The 'Shift 9' Systems approach is the fundamental and all-encompassing step-by-step approach to reach optimum level wellness. There are
3 main categories that house the 9 steps or areas that one would need to master in order to reach our health goals in body, mind and
spirit.
The Three Major Categories of Shift 9:

• A Life Philosophy (Authentic Living Principles)
Category I: Energy (Vitality Management)
Vitality Management is concerned with the accumulation and
conservation of total person energy:
• Nourishment
• Emotional State
• Self-Nurturing
Nourishment: What is the quality of energy that comes from your food and beverages? How much energy is depleted because of poor
lifestyle habits (junk food, too much alcohol, not getting enough rest or exercise, stress)? What is the energy gain or loss? Are these
habits contributing to body tissue alkalinity or acidity, high or low sugar intake and insulin levels being normal or irregular?
Emotional State: Are your constant negative emotions draining you? How do you move your body and speak? Do you walk and talk like
someone who is constantly depressed and feeling down? Or do you behave like someone who looks forward to the opportunities and
challenges that life offers us?
Self-Nurturing: Are you giving yourself the things you require to nourish your body, mind and spirit? Things like getting a massage or a
facial, taking up a hobby you love, walking in the woods, going to a favorite music concert? How about preparing your favorite healthy
meal for you and your family?
Category II: Focus (Attention Management)
Attention Management is the key to making a commitment and
sticking with it until you achieve your aims:
• Clarity
• Commitment
• Centering
Clarity: What do you want and why do you want it? Is there a powerful emotional reason behind your desire? If you obtain your wants and
needs what will be the 'payoff'?
Commitment: How committed are you to following through with the promises you make to yourself? Have you developed the skill of
persistence to complete your plans?
Centering: How do you center yourself emotionally when the 'outer and inner storms' are brewing? Do you meditate or have moments
of quiet reflection throughout each day? Are you easily distracted or can you stay focused on the issue at hand?
Category III: Developing A Life Philosophy
(Authentic Living Principles)
Authentic Living Principles are a combination of personal
development and universal spiritual principles that create a
sustaining and guiding life philosophy:
• Attitudinal Shifting
• Destiny and Purpose
• Sane Simpler Living
Attitudinal Shifting: Your attitude towards life is everything! How you approach situations and people determines outcomes for the most
part whether its changing your health picture or wanting your life to become more fulfilled and content.
Destiny and Purpose: You are here for a reason. Once you get a sense of your purpose you become more passionate and committed to
being healthy and getting focused and wanting to help yourself and others. It's time to claim your destiny and make it personal!
Sane Simpler Living: It's a crazy wonderful world and you must slow down and simplify your life in order to see it's true magnificance.
Contentment is not about 'having more' - it's about 'becoming more.' Most people are so busy doing non-essential activities they miss out
on the important things. Once you re-evaulate your priorities, you become more 'naturally right' - doing the things you must that come
from a deeper place within. Making a contribution to society, getting rid of the clutter, spending more time with the people you care
about and taking care of the planet help make your life simpler and perhaps creating meaning for your life.
